The Nutrition Service Manager I is responsible for the operation and management of culinary service functions within an assigned facility. This position uses critical thinking skills and advanced knowledge to ensure departmental focus and vision is aligned with facility and system business plans.

Entry Rate: $21.40/hour + depending on experience. In addition, a 5% location differential. Differential pay is evaluated annually.

This position manages Nutrition Service caregivers and is responsible for assigned culinary service functions, such as patient services, inventory management, production, retail, and catering. The Nutrition Service Manager I assists System-level Directors in department budget preparation and monitoring.

The Nutrition Service Manager I has limited retail volumes of less than $25000 per month and less than 700 daily meal equivalents. This position may have oversight of less than 25 direct reports, and there may be no supervisor-level positions onsite.

Job Essentials

1. Implements established best practices to deliver exceptional care and service at the appropriate cost.
2. Manages employees to ensure that food safety standards and regulatory guidelines are met.
3. Monitors quality and satisfaction scores. In conjunction with System-level Directors, develops and implements plans to achieve desired outcomes.
4. Establishes financial objectives by assisting System-level Directors in budget planning, forecasting, revenue, and measuring productivity.
5. Uses value-based leadership to build high functioning teams and operations in an accountable environment.
6. In conjunction with System-level Directors, facilitates all human resources functions including hiring, training, mentoring, evaluating performance, conflict resolution, constructive discipline, and termination.
7. Mentors caregivers and students using knowledge and experience to promote personal and professional growth and development.
8. Represents Culinary Services in interdisciplinary teams, committees, and meetings at a facility level.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in Food Services, Nutrition, or Business Management plus two years of experience in food service management. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified OR Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification plus five years of healthcare food service experience in a supervisor or lead role.
Effective business and financial skills in restaurant or food service industry.
Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and e-mail applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in Food Services, Nutrition, or Management. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
ServSafe certification. Certification is required to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Experience using word processing, advanced or complex spreadsheet and database applications, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications, and computerized tracking systems.

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
See and read computer monitors and documents.
Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.
